Serbia announces electricity discounts for pensioners and veterans

The Serbian government has adopted amendments to the Decree on Energy Vulnerable Customers to provide financial relief for the upcoming heating season. Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović announced that pensioners receiving monthly amounts up to 31,092 dinars will automatically receive a 1,000 dinar discount on their electricity bills from October to March.

This assistance is applied automatically to those with electricity meters in their names, requiring no additional applications or documentation. The measure aims to support approximately 190,000 citizens, including low-income pensioners, veterans, and war or civil disabled persons.

In addition to the automatic discount, the red zone threshold for electricity consumption remains at 1,600 kWh, and a 5 percent discount remains available for those who pay their bills early. When combined, these measures can provide monthly savings of approximately 1,500 dinars for eligible individuals.
