Serbia introduces new registration rules for electric pedal vehicles

The Serbian government has issued a new decree establishing specific conditions for the identification and registration of two-wheeled electric vehicles equipped with pedals and seats. This regulation aims to clarify the legal status of vehicles that previously lacked a defined category.

The process requires owners to first determine the technical characteristics of their vehicles through the Agency for Traffic Safety to obtain a specialized sticker. This sticker will classify the vehicle as a bicycle, moped, or motorcycle and include details such as motor power, design speed, and serial number. Once the sticker is obtained, owners can proceed with a technical inspection and formal registration.

The rules apply to vehicles manufactured, assembled, or imported into Serbia by June 27, 2026. The deadline for submitting requests to determine technical characteristics is February 1, 2027, while the final deadline for entry into the Unified Vehicle Register is March 1, 2027.
