Serbia issues housing subsidies to 150 mothers for first property

Serbian technical Prime Minister Đuro Macut and Minister for Family Care and Demography Jelena Žarić Kovačević have issued 150 housing subsidies to mothers for the purchase or construction of their first property. This initiative is part of a broader state effort to support families and encourage demographic growth.

Since the introduction of this measure in 2022, more than 1,850 families have received state support, with over 30 million euros allocated for this purpose. The recent surge in approved applications was facilitated by an additional 200 million dinars secured through the budget rebalance.

Minister Žarić Kovačević noted that 924 subsidies, valued at over 15.5 million euros, were approved during the current mandate. To streamline the process, the ministry has committed to contacting mothers with incomplete documentation rather than rejecting applications, ensuring that eligible families can access the funds to provide stable environments for their children.
