Serbia: Masked individuals cause alarm in Srem region

Reports of mysterious individuals dressed as nuns have caused widespread fear among residents and children in the Srem region, specifically in Jakovo, Inđija, Beška, Slankamen, Maradik, and Krčedina. Witnesses report seeing individuals in black hooded robes appearing at the FK Srem stadium and in local parks, allegedly telling children they are there to frighten them.

Speculation regarding the motive varies. Some residents suggest it may be a TikTok challenge involving teenagers, while others have pointed to rumors of a psychological reality show being filmed for domestic television. Local concerns have been heightened by reports of suspicious vehicles without license plates and unusual symbols left in public parks. Parents are calling for action as children express significant distress over the sightings.
