The Serbian government is set to decide on the minimum wage for 2027 after the Social-Economic Council failed to reach a consensus between employers and unions. The government has proposed increasing the minimum wage from approximately 550 euros to 600 euros, representing a 9.2 percent increase. This proposal would raise the hourly rate from 371 to 405 dinars.

While employers have expressed conditional support for the 600-euro figure—provided the non-taxable portion of income is also increased by 9.2 percent to offset costs—unions are demanding a minimum of 650 euros. Labor representatives argue that 600 euros is insufficient to cover real living costs and the consumer basket.

President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the state will assist employers by reducing taxes and contributions to prevent economic damage to domestic companies. The final decision is expected to be made by the Serbian Government by September 15. Minister Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski noted that the proposed increase aims to ensure the minimum wage covers 117 percent of the minimum consumer basket.
