Ljubomir Stefanović: Slavija Info editor missing after police search
Journalism associations UNS and ANEM are demanding urgent explanations from the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecution following the disappearance of Slavija Info editor Ljubomir Stefanović.
According to reports, members of the Criminal Police Directorate searched Stefanović's apartment and sealed the entrance doors. His lawyer, Ivan Ninić, stated that Stefanović's family has been unable to contact him or learn his whereabouts for over 24 hours, and his phone remains switched off.
While some media outlets report a police search is underway due to allegations of fleeing, Ninić claims he has no information regarding such a search. The case follows a history of reported pressure on Stefanović; he previously alleged in October 2024 that he was forcibly interrogated by the Security Intelligence Agency (BIA) and pressured to change his editorial policy. Additionally, an Amnesty International analysis previously indicated that his mobile device had been compromised during a prior property seizure.
