Serbia opens dinar-denominated government bonds to international investors via Euroclear
Starting September 1, 2026, long-term Serbian government bonds denominated in dinars will be available to international investors through Euroclear. This integration connects Serbia's Central Securities Depository and Clearing House with Euroclear, one of the world's leading financial infrastructures for clearing, settlement, and custody.
The Ministry of Finance announced that the move allows for the trading, clearing, and settlement of five existing dinar-denominated bonds, as well as certain future government bonds. Finance Minister Siniša Mali described the development as a historic step toward opening the domestic capital market to global investors, aiming to increase market liquidity and efficiency.
By facilitating easier access for large international investment funds, the project seeks to create more competitive yields and lower long-term borrowing costs for the state. The initiative is the result of multi-year strategic work involving the Ministry of Finance, the Central Securities Depository, and the National Bank of Serbia.
