Serbia opens Europe's first mass-production humanoid robot factory

The first mass-production factory for humanoid robots in Europe has officially opened in Šabac, Serbia. The facility is a joint venture between the Chinese automotive supplier Minth Group and the Chinese robotics company AgiBot.

The initial phase of the project involves an investment of approximately €20 million across a 3,000-square-meter facility. The plant focuses on the assembly of humanoid robots and robotic dogs, as well as the calibration of vision and motion systems. During the opening ceremony, attended by Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, the first humanoid robot produced at the site demonstrated capabilities such as playing chess, dancing, and performing Chinese calligraphy.

The long-term vision for the project involves a total investment of roughly €200 million to create a broader robotics industrial park. Once fully developed, the site aims to reach an annual production capacity of up to 20,000 units, targeting both European and international markets. While initial applications are expected to focus on industrial tasks like material handling and inspection, future uses may extend to healthcare, agriculture, and elderly care.
