Serbia PIO Fund clarifies pension calculation and minimum rates
The Republic Pension and Disability Insurance Fund (PIO) has clarified that pension amounts in Serbia are not determined solely by years of service. Instead, the final amount depends on both the length of service and the earned salaries or insurance bases used for contributions.
For individuals with 40 years of service and a minimum age of 60, early old-age pension rights can be exercised. Differences in lifetime earnings result in different personal coefficients, meaning two people with the same years of service may receive different monthly payments.
According to the PIO Statistical Bulletin, minimum pension amounts effective from December 2025 and continuing through 2026—following a 12.2 percent adjustment—are 31,092.11 dinars for employees and self-employed individuals, and 24,443.91 dinars for farmers. If a calculated pension is lower than these legal minimums, the minimum amount is applied.
