Serbia plans Kraljevo–Raška–Novi Pazar expressway

The Serbian Agency for Spatial Planning and Urbanism has released a draft spatial plan for a new infrastructure corridor connecting Kraljevo, Raška, and Novi Pazar. The project includes a main expressway (IM 17) measuring 80.74 km and a branch connecting Raška to Jarinje (IM 19) measuring 12.75 km, totaling 93.49 km.

Due to the challenging mountainous terrain and the Ibar valley, the construction will require 111 structures, including bridges and tunnels. The expressway is designed with four lanes, each 3.5 meters wide, supporting speeds of up to 100 km/h, though this will be reduced to 80 km/h within tunnels.

The main route will pass through the territories of Kraljevo (47.15 km), Raška (27.48 km), and Novi Pazar (6.11 km). The public inspection period for the draft plan and the strategic environmental impact assessment is open until September 25. The investment value and the official start date for construction have not yet been announced.
