Serbia power shift may impact Kosovo Serb political representation
The loss of power by Aleksandar Vučić’s Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) in Serbia could alter how Belgrade influences the political representation of Serbs living in Kosovo. This political shift may provide Pristina with an opportunity to initiate direct dialogue with the Kosovo Serb community.
For over a decade, the Serb List has dominated the community's political representation with support from Belgrade. In contrast, the government of Albin Kurti has recently worked with the Party for Liberty, Justice and Survival, led by Nenad Rashiq.
Analysts suggest that Kosovo institutions should utilize this change to build more direct relationships with the Serb community, particularly in the four northern municipalities. Observers note that previous relations have been marked by tension and growing mistrust toward institutions, often viewed through a security lens rather than a communicative one.
