Serbia prepares Air Force for arrival of French Rafale jets

The Serbian Air Force is undergoing intensive training within its 101st Fighter Aviation Squadron to prepare for the arrival of French-made Rafale fighter jets. Both pilots and technical personnel are currently undergoing training to manage the transition from the existing Russian-made MiG-29 aircraft to the new multi-role fighters.

In August 2024, Serbia signed a €2.7 billion agreement with France for the procurement of 12 Rafale jets, which include associated equipment and services. These aircraft meet the F4.1 standard and are manufactured by Dassault Aviation. Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has indicated that the country plans to acquire additional fighter and trainer aircraft alongside the Rafale fleet as part of a broader modernization of its aerial capabilities.
