Serbia officially begins heating season across 60 systems
The official heating season has commenced across Serbia, with 60 district heating systems supplying approximately 670,000 households. While the official season typically runs until April 15, many heating plants activated their systems early due to dropping temperatures.
In Niš, all 18 heat sources have been activated, and officials report that fuel supplies are secured. In Kikinda, the heating plant has completed extensive summer maintenance and confirmed that gas supplies are guaranteed through a contract with Srbijagas, with prices expected to remain stable for the remainder of the year.
The Business Association of Serbian Heating Plants (Toplane Srbije) stated that all systems are technically ready. While global energy market uncertainties persist, officials expect reliable delivery. Local municipalities hold the authority to determine specific heating schedules and whether potential cost increases will be covered by local budgets or passed on to consumers.
