Serbia state support payments face cash shortages at banks and post offices

Citizens in Serbia have faced significant challenges while attempting to withdraw a one-time state support payment of 7,000 dinars. Large queues formed at Serbian Post branches and Posta Savings Bank locations as people sought to collect the funds following a parliamentary decision in late August.

Reports indicate that many individuals, particularly pensioners, were unable to access their money due to cash shortages at various branches in cities such as Subotica and Senta. In some locations, limited cash supplies led to people being turned away and told to return the following week.

Authorities have clarified that while the official disbursement process was scheduled between September 22 and September 25, this does not constitute a deadline for citizens to withdraw the funds. For those who registered via the Treasury portal, the money remains available for one year. For beneficiaries of the Share Fund, there is no expiration date for accessing the funds, and the money will remain in their accounts until they choose to withdraw it.
