Serbia to distribute 30,000 tourism vouchers worth 10,000 dinars each

The Serbian government will issue 30,000 tourism vouchers this year, each valued at 10,000 dinars, with a total budget of 300 million dinars. Eligibility includes pensioners whose monthly income does not exceed 80,000 dinars, unemployed persons, caregivers, and low‑income employees. Vouchers can be used for subsidised accommodation outside the holder’s residence for a minimum stay of five nights and are intended to stimulate domestic tourism, extend the travel season into spring and autumn, and bolster small‑scale hospitality operators in rural and mountain areas.

Minister of Tourism and Youth Husen Memić said the programme has already boosted domestic tourist numbers by 9.1 % and overnight stays by 5.6 % in the first five months of the year. The state has also earmarked €10 million for three hotels in Belgrade, Novi Pazar and Zlatibor to fund greenfield investments and create jobs. Strengthened controls aim to prevent abuse and ensure the support reaches its intended recipients, while the voucher scheme has helped grow the number of registered accommodation providers from about 120 to roughly 5,000 over the past decade.
