Aleksandar Vučić Sets Timeline for Serbian Presidential Election and Hints at Premier Run
President Aleksandar Vučić announced that if Serbia’s parliamentary elections are held in November, the presidential election will take place in January, no later than early February. If the parliamentary vote occurs in October, the presidential poll could be scheduled for the end of December or early January.
Vučić said he will accept and congratulate the results whichever way they turn out. He also indicated he intends to resign as president to run for prime minister in the upcoming parliamentary elections, which he expects to be held in October or November. The president noted that the anti‑corruption platform “Ko si bre ti” has received 10,000 citizen reports, with 3,500 already answered. He added that he now trusts research by the CRTA (formerly “Crta”) after seeing its foreign funding, and pledged to continue fighting for Serbia regardless of the election outcome.
