Serbia defeats Bosnia 94‑81 in World Cup qualifying match

Serbia's men's basketball team won the Group C qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina 94‑81 in Belgrade, completing the first round of the 2027 FIBA World Cup (Mundobasket) qualification. Coach Dušan Alimpijević praised the performance, saying “we played well from the first second” and highlighted the team’s 62 assists over the two recent games. Nikola Jokić recorded a triple‑double (20 points, 11 assists, 10 rebounds) and was called “the best player in the world” by Alimpijević. Nikola Jović led Serbia with 32 points, while Bosnia’s top scorer was Luka Garza with 16 points.

The result leaves Serbia at 4‑2 and Bosnia at 2‑4 in the group. Serbia will face Italy, Lithuania and Iceland in the next qualifying window, while Bosnia’s upcoming opponents are the same three teams. Both federations emphasized the importance of the upcoming games for securing a place in the World Cup.

Alimpijević added that the atmosphere in the “Pionir” arena was excellent and that the team will continue to build on the “team‑first” spirit as they progress toward the final qualification stage.
