Serbia to launch AI-powered eGovernment services by September

Serbia is preparing to launch AI-powered services on its eGovernment portal, with the first phase expected by the end of September. Mihailo Jovanović, Director of the Office for IT and eGovernment, announced that citizens will soon be able to schedule appointments for ID card and passport replacements through voice commands or text conversations with an AI assistant.

Instead of manually navigating complex menus to find services, users will simply inform the assistant of their needs, such as requesting an appointment at the nearest police station. The government aims to expand this technology to other administrative tasks, including school and kindergarten enrollment.

Additionally, efforts are underway to develop the Innovation District in Kragujevac. The project includes the construction of several buildings to serve as a hub for IT infrastructure and large-scale data processing, supported by a State Data Center.
