Serbia to maintain energy cooperation and avoid Russian sanctions
Dušan Bajatović, Director General of Srbijagas, stated that Serbia is not expected to introduce sanctions against the Russian Federation following recent parliamentary elections. He emphasized that the country's strategic energy cooperation with Moscow will remain unchanged due to political wisdom and current geopolitical circumstances.
Bajatović noted that Russia serves as a significant political partner and protector of Serbian interests on the international stage. He characterized the imposition of sanctions in the current global climate as a strategic error.
Regarding energy security, Gazprom has extended its natural gas supply contract with Srbijagas for an additional three months under existing favorable terms. The current three-month agreement is set to expire on December 31. Bajatović projected that Gazprom will deliver up to 2.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Serbia throughout 2026, covering approximately 90 percent of the nation's total requirements.
