Serbian police search analyst Aleksandar Radić, sparking media and civil‑society outcry

Police in Belgrade conducted searches of military analyst Aleksandar Radić’s apartment and his wife’s residence as part of a probe into the alleged use of a sound weapon during the 15 March 2025 protest in the capital. The operation was described by Radić’s lawyer, Stefan Ćorda, as lacking legal grounds for detention and noted that only electronic devices had been seized.

Civil‑society groups and media organisations demanded immediate clarification, warning that the raids could breach constitutional guarantees on home inviolability and press freedom. They called for confirmation that any measures were based on court orders and urged transparent investigations.

Opposition leader Zdravko Ponoš criticised the authorities, stating, “This is intimidation of political dissenters, journalists and free‑thinking people,” and warned that the government’s actions undermine the rule of law. The incident has heightened tensions over freedom of expression and the handling of the protest‑related inquiry.
