Serbian Armed Forces complete UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon
Members of the Serbian Armed Forces have completed their six-month peacekeeping deployment in Lebanon and returned to Serbia. Since April, the unit served as a force protection platoon in the West sector, tasked with securing a base housing the Italian United Nations peacekeeping contingent.
The rotation was formally conducted this week at a United Nations base in Lebanon in the presence of the sector commander. During the ceremony, Serbian personnel were awarded United Nations medals for their successful participation in the mission and their contribution to maintaining peace.
Serbia has participated in United Nations peacekeeping operations in Lebanon since 2010. In addition to force protection platoons, the Serbian contribution includes an infantry company, staff officers within the mission command, and a group of specialist officers providing support to the contingent.
