Serbian Athletics Federation targets Los Angeles Olympic medals
The Serbian Athletics Federation (SAS) has announced its strategic focus on securing multiple medals at the upcoming Los Angeles Olympic Games. During a conference celebrating the sport's development in 2026 and the upcoming 120th anniversary of Serbian athletics, SAS President Slobodan Branković emphasized the goal of maintaining the nation's tradition of winning at least one medal at major championships annually.
Prominent athletes shared their outlook for the coming seasons. Long jumper and triple jumper Ivana Španović expressed her transition into the triple jump discipline and her anticipation for the European Championships in Valencia. Shot putter Armin Sinančević reported being fully recovered from previous injuries and aims to exceed 21 meters in Valencia to contend for medals.
Rising triple jumper Aleksandrija Mitrović also discussed her recent performance at the European Championships in Birmingham, where she achieved a personal record of 13.93m. Mitrović, often viewed as a successor to Španović in the triple jump, noted the intense pressure and unique energy experienced during major international competitions.
