Serbian Bar Association bans lawyers from appearing on Informer TV

The Serbian Bar Association (Advokatska komora Srbije) has called on all lawyers to cease appearing on the tabloid television channel Informer, stating that participation in its programmes damages the reputation of the legal profession. The decision follows a targeted media campaign against lawyer Jana Aćimović Planojević and her family, who represent citizens alleging police brutality in Valjevo. Bar officials and lawyers, including Aleksandar Olenik, vice‑president of the Vojvodina Social Democratic League, and attorney Ivan Ninić, said the appearances “ruin the reputation of the profession” and urged disciplinary action against lawyers who accept such invitations. They described the coverage as politically motivated slander designed to intimidate and silence advocates of the Valjevo victims.
