Serbian basketball faces league scheduling and governance concerns

The Serbian First Women's Basketball League has finalized its competition numbers and schedule for the upcoming season, which is set to begin on September 26, 2026. The league will feature 12 teams, including defending champions Crvena zvezda, who finished their previous season undefeated. The regular season will run through March 27, 2027, followed by a playoff system to determine the national champion.

Separately, the Executive Board of the Olympic Committee of Serbia (OKS) has issued a formal demand for those responsible in Serbian basketball to return to the frameworks of legality and institutional responsibility. The OKS expressed serious concern regarding current developments within the Basketball Federation of Serbia (KSS), stating that the ongoing disputes could impact the integrity of the Olympic movement and the functioning of sports arbitration in the country.
