Serbian Child Support Fund Disburses 54 Million Dinars to 889 Children in First Year
Minister Jelena Žarić Kovačević announced that, in the first year of the Alimentacioni fund, 54 million dinars have been paid to 889 children. The ministry has issued 588 decisions, 467 for mothers and 77 for fathers, and includes 44 beneficiaries aged up to 26 who qualify based on regular schooling. Over 4,000 people have contacted the ministry’s call centre for information.
Eligibility requires a final court judgment and initiation of enforcement proceedings. After receiving a case from the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry for Family Care has 15 days to issue a decision and make the first payment. Once the ministry assumes payment, it will later seek repayment from debtors, with execution agents tracking debtor assets. No instances of the ministry recovering funds from debtors have occurred yet.
