Serbian community in Northern Greece to protest in pajamas

Serbian citizens residing in Thessaloniki and Northern Greece are planning a symbolic protest during the upcoming early parliamentary elections in Serbia on October 25. The group intends to travel from Thessaloniki to Athens wearing pajamas to express their dissatisfaction with the decision not to open a polling station in Thessaloniki, reportedly due to a lack of necessary funds.

The choice of attire serves a dual purpose: it acts as a protest against the loss of local voting access and as a gesture of solidarity with the Serbian diaspora in countries such as the United States, Canada, and Brazil. These citizens often face the challenge of voting during the night due to time zone differences. Approximately 2,000 Serbs live in the Thessaloniki region and are coordinating their travel to the Greek capital through a dedicated social media group to ensure they can exercise their right to vote.
