Serbian Court Detains Kosovar Citizen Osman Selmani, Urges Migrants to Avoid Border Transit

Serbia's High Court ordered a 30‑day pre‑trial detention for Osman Selmani, a Kosovar national arrested on 1 July at the Mutivoda border crossing. He is accused of committing war crimes in 1999, allegedly taking part in the killing of Serbian civilians together with members of the KLA. The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the arrest, while Selmani’s family called the charges baseless and affirmed his innocence.

Veteran and security officials warned that Kosovo migrants using Serbia as a transit route could become targets of Serbian security structures. They urged Kosovars to avoid traveling through Serbia, noting a pattern of repeated arrests of Kosovo citizens under similar war‑crime allegations.
