Serbian cultural institutions announce new film programs
Cultural institutions in Serbia are launching new film programming initiatives. In Ćićevac, the National Library is reintroducing an outdoor cinema for the first time in over three decades. The program aims to create a relaxed atmosphere where attendees can bring their own seating and snacks, starting with a screening of ‘SpongeBob SquarePants: Curse of the Pirate’. Director Marko Aleksić noted that the goal is to establish summer film evenings as a local tradition.
Meanwhile, the Yugoslav Film Archive (Jugoslovenska kinoteka) has announced a special program titled ‘Remembering Olivera Katarina’ running from September 6 to 15. The retrospective will feature 14 of the actress's films, including ‘Dobra kob’ and ‘Čarlston za Ognjenku’. Additionally, the archive will host Chinese cinema veteran Sje Fej on September 7, presenting him with the Golden Seal award for his contributions to film art.
