Serbian cultural institutions launch new artistic seasons

Several Serbian cultural institutions are launching new artistic seasons. The Madlenijanum Opera and Theatre will open its ballet season on October 13 with a diptych featuring ‘Carmen Suite’ by Rodion Shchedrin and ‘Bolero’ by Maurice Ravel. Choreographed by Aleksandar Ilić, the production features a mix of professional artists, including Vienna State Opera soloist Gala Jovanović, and students from various ballet schools.

Separately, the National Ensemble ‘Kolo’ is set to begin its new season with a concert at the MTS Dvorana on September 30. The program will showcase anthology choreographies from renowned names such as Olga Skovran and Radojica Kuzmanović. Director Zdravko Ranisavljević noted that the ensemble continues its 78-year mission to preserve and develop Serbian traditional dance, song, and music through performances, educational programs, and field research.
