Serbian delegation pursues Russian personalized mRNA cancer vaccine for patients

On a two‑day visit to Moscow, a Serbian delegation led by minister without portfolio Nenad Popović met Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko and senior officials from Russian oncology institutes. They discussed Russia’s newly approved personalized mRNA cancer vaccine, NEOONKOVAK, which is slated for broad use from 2025.

The parties aim to set up an institutional framework so Serbian cancer patients can receive the vaccine, initially by traveling to Russia for treatment and eventually with production steps transferred to Serbia. Popović said, “We are working on establishing the institutional framework … so our patients can get access to this cutting‑edge therapy.” Early results have shown high efficacy against skin and lung cancers, and the collaboration involves genetics, AI and advanced diagnostics.
