Serbian Education Ministry Plans Higher Pay for Teachers in Deficit Subjects
The Serbian Ministry of Education announced measures to address a shortage of teachers in physics, chemistry, geography, mathematics and biology. Minister Dejan Vuk Stanković said the government will declare these subjects deficit, allowing a correction of salary coefficients and an increase in monthly wages for teachers in these areas.
The ministry will also provide monthly scholarships for students training for the deficit professions, form work groups at universities to submit curriculum proposals by September, and coordinate with Prime Minister Đura M, relevant agencies and experts to make the teaching profession more attractive.
