Serbia secures three‑month Gazprom gas supply extension

Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Dubravka Đedović Handanović said at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum that Serbia has obtained an additional three‑month extension of gas deliveries from Russia’s Gazprom, covering the period after 30 June. She described the supply as stable, price‑competitive and crucial for households and industry.

The minister also highlighted ongoing talks with Gazprom Neft and Hungary’s MOL over the future of Serbia’s oil refinery NIS, noting that MOL has requested extra time to conclude negotiations. Đedović Handanović said Serbia remains a reliable partner for Russia despite Western sanctions and stressed the need for a sustainable solution acceptable to the U.S. administration.

In the same forum remarks, she outlined Serbia’s long‑term energy plan, “Serbia 2035,” which earmarks €14.4 billion for new power capacity, including reversible hydro plants, gas‑fired units, renewable projects and a nuclear programme, aiming to enhance energy security and diversification.
