Serbian entrepreneurs seek higher tax and VAT thresholds
Small entrepreneurs in Serbia are advocating for changes to tax regulations to alleviate the burden on thousands of firms. The Association of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen of Serbia has formally proposed to the Ministry of Finance that the annual income limit for lump-sum taxation be increased from 6 million to 8 million dinars.
Additionally, the association is requesting that the threshold for entering the VAT system be raised from 8 million to 12 million dinars. Darko Majstorović, president of the association, stated that these limits have not been updated since 2013 and that the requested changes are a moderate correction to account for inflation and rising consumer prices rather than a request for special privileges.
While the government is reportedly considering the 8 million dinar limit, implementation may be tied to Serbia’s progress in accessing the European Union.
