Serbian ex‑assembly president Igor Novaković delays prison term
Igor Novaković, former president of the Niš Assembly in Serbia, was sentenced to one year and six months in prison. Since receiving the order to begin his sentence in late April, he has repeatedly postponed his incarceration, citing health problems and providing medical documentation. The court has so far rejected his requests, leaving the date of his imprisonment uncertain.
Vesko Delić, the mayor of Mojkovac in Montenegro, was convicted of abuse of office and received a six‑month conditional prison sentence. Despite the verdict, Delić announced he will continue to serve as mayor, stating his conscience is clear and he will fulfill his duties. The appellate court upheld the lower court's decision, confirming the conviction and the conditional nature of the sentence.
