Serbian family evicted from Greek villa, €290 withheld
A Serbian family on holiday in Greece says the owner of the villa where they were staying forced them onto the street with a baby and kept €290 meant for the remaining days of their stay. The dispute began after a baby of friends staying in a neighboring villa fell ill and was taken to a hospital in Poligiroi, leaving the older child with the Serbian family. When the family informed the villa owner that the child would stay with them for medical reasons, the owner allegedly threatened police action, expelled them and refused to refund the prepaid amount. The family spent two nights on the street before a neighboring villa’s owner offered temporary shelter. They later returned to Serbia, prompting public debate in a Facebook group about tourists’ rights abroad.
The incident has drawn criticism of the villa owner’s conduct and raised questions about consumer protection for travelers in foreign countries.
