Serbian Finance Minister Mali Announces New Pension Assistance Package

Finance Minister Siniša Mali said the government's new economic package is the first step toward improving living standards, targeting retirees with the lowest pensions, social‑assistance recipients and energy‑vulnerable households. The measures include a one‑off 35,000‑dinar payment to low‑pension seniors, electricity and gas bill reductions of 20‑40 % and an additional 1,000‑dinar discount for qualifying pensioners, and an extension of the consumer‑protection regulation for energy‑vulnerable customers beyond 1 October. Mali highlighted Serbia’s 3.2 % GDP growth, low public debt and the large price gaps in medicines that the package also seeks to address.

Separately, the pension fund announced that June pension payments will be transferred through the Unified Treasury Account of the Federation of Bosnia‑Herzegovina on 3 July 2026. The announcement listed the minimum, guaranteed and maximum pension amounts in convertible marks (KM) and reiterated President Aleksandar Vučić’s earlier pledge to raise pensions.
