Serbian geodetic institute director Borko Drašković dismissed, Dalibor Babić appointed

After serving 11 years as head of Serbia's Republic Geodetic Institute (RGZ), Borko Drašković was removed from his post during a government meeting. In a statement he said, "the day comes when you have to be replaced," and declined to comment on any link between his dismissal and a public dispute with Milan Stamatović, the mayor of Čajetina, over land on Zlatibor. Drašković had previously been involved in a heated exchange with former construction minister Goran Vesić, who threatened to intervene in the institute's cadastral work.

The government appointed Dalibor Babić, a long‑time geodetic inspector in RGZ's supervision sector, as acting director. Babić is known from media appearances discussing the institute's inspection activities. The change marks a shift in leadership after a decade‑long tenure.
