Serbian geodetic organizations demand dismissal of Minister Sofronijević

The Association of Geodetic Organizations of Serbia (UGOS) has formally requested the Serbian government to initiate dismissal proceedings against Aleksandra Sofronijević, the Minister of Construction, Transport, and Infrastructure.

The association cites continuous inadequate legal regulations regarding illegal construction, real estate registration, and professional jurisdictions. A primary catalyst for this demand is a proposed amendment to the Law on Special Conditions for the Registration and Entry of Real Estate Rights. The amendment would allow architects and civil engineers to prepare geodetic work documentation, a move UGOS describes as professionally and systemically unacceptable.

UGOS is demanding the removal of this provision, insisting that geodetic documentation must only be prepared by geodetic organizations or authorized geodetic professionals. Additionally, the association is calling for greater involvement of the geodetic profession in drafting regulations for cadastre and spatial data, as well as a review of existing legislative policies concerning illegal construction.
