Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dačić Calls for Regular Elections, Returns Vučić Supporters

Interior Minister Ivica Dačić said that the removal of supporters of President Aleksandar Vučić from Tivat airport was a pre‑planned action undertaken before the EU‑West Balkans summit. He warned that Montenegro‑based criminal clans pose the greatest threat to Vučić’s security and described a police operational group tracking their activities. Dačić explained that Serbian police would request passenger lists from airlines only with a court order and that each arriving individual is checked against security registers.

Dačić also affirmed his stance that parliamentary elections should be held at the regular, scheduled time, rejecting any move toward snap elections despite Vučić’s view that early voting could ease societal divisions. He praised the ruling coalition’s performance, reiterated Serbia’s expectations that its national interests be respected in Montenegro, and highlighted ongoing internal police control that has processed over 3,000 officers since its inception.
