Serbian leaders and students confront Kosovo's reality amid EU integration debate

Serbian political figures and university students are publicly reassessing the situation in Kosovo. In a recent interview, Aleksandar Vulin, leader of the Movement of Socialists, criticised Serbia's handling of Kosovo and Metohija, warned against reliance on diplomatic and security mechanisms, highlighted the plight of Serbs detained in Kosovo prisons, and questioned the country's progress toward European Union membership. He also denounced past justifications for Serbia's policies in the region.

Separately, a group of law students from Belgrade who visited Kosovo reported positive interactions with local Albanians, describing a shared community life and rejecting long‑standing nationalist narratives. Their accounts challenged official Serbian propaganda and suggested that everyday relations on the ground are more cooperative than portrayed by the regime’s media. The students' statements sparked a backlash from pro‑government outlets, which attempted to discredit them using artificial media, but the expedition’s findings underscored a shift in public perception about Kosovo’s future.
