Serbian mafia figure Aleksandar Nešović ‘Baja’ murdered; 11 arrested in investigation

Forensic DNA analysis confirmed that remains recovered from a barrel in Inđija on 21 May 2026 belong to Aleksandar Nešović, known as “Baja,” whose disappearance was reported on 13 May. Prosecutors say Nešović was shot on 12 May inside the “27” restaurant in the Senjak district of Belgrade. Saša Vuković is alleged to have fired the shots with a firearm supplied by his wife, Danka V.

The Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade has launched a wide‑ranging investigation, charging eleven individuals. Accused include Vuković and Mario S. for murder and illegal weapons offences; Danka V. for providing the gun; former Belgrade police chief Veselin Milić and three police officers for aiding the perpetrator and covering up the crime; Dejan S. for assisting in transporting the victim’s body; and several restaurant staff for destroying evidence and giving false statements. All suspects are currently detained pending trial.
