Serbian man dies after surviving fatal Bulgarian car accident

Bratislav Petković (52), a resident of Bor, Serbia, has passed away while receiving medical treatment in Bulgaria. His death follows a severe traffic accident that occurred in late July on the E-79 highway between Kresna and Simitlija.

The accident involved a vehicle with Serbian registration plates crossing into the opposite lane and colliding with two freight vehicles while the couple was returning from a vacation in Greece. Petković’s wife, Tatjana (54), was killed instantly at the scene.

Following the initial accident, Petković was hospitalized in Blagoevgrad before being transferred to a hospital in Sofia. Although he had previously emerged from a coma, providing a glimmer of hope for his recovery, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Preliminary reports indicate that cardiac arrest was the cause of death. His family noted that he was expected to be discharged from the hospital on the day of his passing.
