Serbian minister and former Croatian Serb leader demand truth on Operation Storm victims
Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Adrijana Mesarović said Serbia has an obligation to protect the truth about the suffering of its people, urging that the memory of the 1995 Operation Storm and other wartime atrocities not be silenced. She posted on Instagram that revising history attacks the dignity of victims and called for a strong national identity based on factual history.
Former SAO Krajina leader Milan Babić, who testified at the Hague and expressed remorse for crimes committed during the Croatian War, also called for confronting the past. In Slavonski Brod, a monument to children killed in the war was vandalised, prompting local calls for its cleaning and for accountability, underscoring the ongoing struggle over historical memory in the region.
