Serbian Minister promotes rural revitalization at Miholjski susreti

Milan Krkobabić, the Minister for Rural Welfare, addressed the Miholjski susreti festival, noting that villages across Serbia are at a critical turning point. The event, held for the sixth consecutive year, is taking place in nearly 1,800 villages this year to promote rural survival and renewal.

Key strategies for revitalizing these communities include encouraging young families to occupy vacant rural homes, renovating cultural centers, strengthening cooperatives, and stimulating economic activities. The Minister also emphasized the necessity of improving infrastructure, such as local roads, water supply, healthcare, and transportation via minibuses, as well as supporting volunteer fire departments.

The festival includes cultural and sporting activities, such as traditional crafts, literary events, and competitions in football, chess, and stone throwing. In the municipality of Ražanj, the Ministry has directed 53.4 million dinars toward various development programs.
