Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs funded pro-SNS organizations

An investigation by the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network (BIRN) reveals that the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Directorate for Diaspora Affairs, has allocated more than 250,000 euros over the last three years to diaspora organizations in Serbia, North Macedonia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to the report, these funds were distributed to groups that publicly promote the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), disseminate Russian political narratives, glorify war criminals, or advocate for far-right and anti-gender equality positions.

Specific instances cited include the association Izražajnost, which received 23,800 euros for projects promoting the Cyrillic script, and the Association of War Veterans of the Serbian Territories 1990–1999, which received 8,500 euros for youth summer camps. The latter's leader previously faced controversy for sending minors to military camps in Russia involving weapons training. Neither the Ministry nor the Directorate responded to inquiries regarding these findings.
