Serbian MP Aleksandar Ivanović criticizes government over Albanian consulate in Bujanovac

Aleksandar Ivanović, a member of the Serbian National Movement (NPS), said there is no problem with opening an Albanian consulate in Bujanovac if it respects Serbia’s interests and the principle of reciprocity. He argued that the real issue is the current government’s failure to protect state interests, describing it as corrupt and willing to trade national interests for political survival.

Ivanović questioned why an Albanian consulate can be established in Bujanovac while a Serbian consulate in Skadar is reportedly blocked. He linked the matter to broader concerns about the treatment of national minorities, citing the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, President Vučić’s conduct, and a recent visit by the Albanian president to southern Serbia that received little media coverage.
