Serbian music stars earn millions while classic hits wear out
Top Balkan singers have built lucrative careers that extend far beyond album sales. Concert tours, royalties, advertising deals and investments in real estate and private businesses have generated multi‑million‑dollar earnings for artists such as Lepa Brena, Zdravko Čolić, Ceca Ražnatović, Aca Lukas and the younger star Aleksandra Prijović.
At the same time, many of the region’s most familiar songs have become overplayed staples at weddings, parties and other celebrations. Tracks like Milica Todorović’s “Ti moje zlato,” Jakov Jozinović’s “Ja volim,” and classic folk numbers by Mitar Mirić and Sinan Sakić are now frequently described as “worn out” by audiences who hear them repeatedly at every event.
