Serbian National Forum demands EU response to arrests of Serbs at Gazimestan

The Serbian National Forum (SNF) in Gračanica condemned the Kosovo police for detaining more than three dozen Serb participants during the Vidovdan ceremony at Gazimestan. SNF described the action as part of a systematic campaign by the Albin Kurti administration to pressure the Serb community and said the gathering was peaceful, did not disturb public order, and the detentions were intended to intimidate rather than enforce the law.

SNF called on the European Union, the EULEX mission, the OSCE and foreign embassies to comment on the police conduct. Kosovo police reported that 37 people were arrested for "inciting hatred". The Forum also urged Islamic, Catholic, Jewish and other religious leaders on Kosovo to publicly condemn any measures that threaten freedom of worship and to uphold the joint declaration signed on 29 May, which pledges respect for peace, human dignity and inter‑faith coexistence.

The statements highlight ongoing tensions over religious and cultural rights in Kosovo and solicit international scrutiny of the authorities’ handling of the event.
