Serbian officials meet UNMIK head over Kosovo security

Serbian officials Marko Đurić, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Petar Petković, Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, held discussions with Peter Due, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK.

Đurić emphasized the importance of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the need for the international community to remain informed about the situation on the ground, particularly regarding the status of the Serbian and other non-Albanian populations. He expressed concern over recent political arrests of Serbs and criticized the authorities in Pristina for being unconstructive in the dialogue process.

Petković highlighted the need for UNMIK to respond with increased responsibility to ethnic-motivated incidents and attacks. He specifically cited the arrest of nine Serbian residents from Zubin Potok, alleging that Serbs are being detained based on ethnicity without clear evidence to intimidate the population. Petković also noted Pristina's obstruction of the Brussels-led dialogue and the long-delayed formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities.
