Serbian town Krushevc sees anti‑Albanian posters, opposition demands hate‑speech investigation

In the central Serbian town of Krushevc, posters reading “Don’t buy from Albanians” and invoking the Gazimestan battle were placed in front of a bakery owned by an Albanian. The Free Citizens Movement (PSG) called on police and prosecutors to identify those responsible, describing the messages as hate‑speech that endangers the Albanian shop owner and could provoke intimidation or violence.

PSG member Aleksandar Radovanović shared the images on X, while human‑rights activist Natasha Kandiq urged Serbian students to gather at the bakery in solidarity against ethnic‑nationalist actions. The incident follows a recent Kosovo police operation on 28 June during the Vidovdan ceremony in Gazimestan, where 37 Serbs were arrested; 36 were later convicted for incitement, fined €700 and barred from entering Kosovo for three years.

Security expert Avni Islami also reacted to Serbian politician Vojislav Sheshel’s claim that “as long as the Serbian army does not return to Kosovo, there is no bread,” urging Kosovo to strengthen its police, intelligence and armed forces to ensure security.
